Bailey was a visionary artist whose imaginative ceramics and sculpture pushed the boundaries of traditional art. World of Wonders is a re-creation of his original museum built in the 1970s on his property in California. Learn more about Clayton Bailey at claytonbailey.org.
In 2021, Curated Storefront became the steward of a significant portion of Clayton Bailey’s (1939 - 2020) wonderfully strange sculptures and ephemera following the artist’s passing.
Visit the museum to experience Bailey’s legendary robots, mechanical wonders, and bizarre experiments.
Throughout the year and during the closed season, Curated Storefront offers free and private tours to community and professional organizations. Tours can be arranged by calling 330-800-0342.
fresh digs
In the 1970s, Bailey would lean into the public’s fascination with sasquatch and bigfoot sightings.
Working as his alter-ego Dr. George Gladstone, Bailey staged pseudo-archaeological finds, such as a Bigfoot skeleton, for school-aged children to discover on field trips in California.
He also invited the press to report on his discovery, proof of Bigfoot’s existence, and displayed the evidence for the public to see for themselves.
In 2023, Curated Storefront partnered with the Highland Üniversal Gatheringspot (HÜG) in Akron’s Highland Square neighborhood, and staged an archeological dig in the spirit of Clayton Bailey to help promote HÜG’s new land art labyrinth and World of Wonders.
For more information on HÜG and our findings read the press releases here.
